Vector 2020 Sponsor Announcement: UK Esports Program

This year, we are incredibly pleased to have the University of Kentucky Esports Program serve as a sponsor for Vector Online! The UK Esports program is a new initiative at UK and as a part of their sponsorship we are going to have a talk on Friday at 12:30 about this new program and about bringing esports to the Bluegrass!

Some more information about UK Esports:

Starting later this year, the University and Gen.G will serve as host for a periodic speaker series on campus, featuring leading gaming and esports executives, athletes and content creators. The series, which also will be streamed globally, will showcase content that is customized for students and alumni from relevant university majors and degree programs.

The university is considering the academic potential that esports and gaming lends to our educational mission and the future careers for our students. Any upcoming plans and programming will be posted on this site so check back for more information.

Their info:

We are dedicated to helping those that want to bring more diversity to the art of gaming. We will do this by sponsoring attendance at diverse gaming conventions, promoting those that are making diverse games, indie projects and presenting on the topics of diversity in gaming at conventions. One of our goals is to have more articles, to pay people for their contributions, and to do more tangible things for the community.

We also want to help others get to conventions, share their work if funding is an issue. We would love your support to send aspiring game devs to conventions like GDC, IGDA events in their city, GeekGirlCon, HavenCon, GaymerX, and other places where gaming and diversity are parts of the conversation. We want to do this by highlighting work by marginalized, underrepresented people in the industry, getting their voices heard and their work seen be it a game, articles, etc.

Find out more about I Need Diverse Games at their website or follow them on Twitter!
